Athlete Spotlighting #5: Nate Lundy

Hello Everyone!

Our 5th Athlete Spotlight is of one of the most well-rounded athletes I have ever had the privilege of training. He carries himself in such a balanced way: focused on constant improvement in all areas of life, a natural leader who encourages others and leads by example, and someone that understands the level of energy and drive that goes into achieving goals.

If you're in need of a lesson on how to be better: a better athlete, a better teammate, a better person, then you need to meet...

Athlete Name: Nate Lundy
Sport(s): Baseball
Position(s): Infield
School: Walsh Jesuit High School
Graduation Year: 2011
AGSP Athlete Since: September 2008
Favorite Professional Sports Team: Cleveland Indians
Favorite Professional Athlete: Casey Blake

Favorite Lift: Back Squat
Favorite Movement Skill(s): High Speed Treadmill (Max Velocity), Towel-Partner Pulls (Acceleration), Backpedal & Anglepedal (Multi-Direction)
UPDATE: 11/1/10, Vertical Jump of 32 inches

When I am not training at AGSP, I am:
Doing AP homework, watching Sportscenter, hanging with the guys, on a date, at a football game, doing volunteer work, PLAYING BASEBALL!

What are your short-term goals?
To be a team captain for the Warriors this year. I made Varsity as a Sophomore, was a starter my Junior year, and this year a hope to be a captain and lead the team to a State Championship.

What are your long-term goals?
To play Division 1 Collegiate Baseball while studying medicine. I want to be an orthopedic surgeon, so I can stay in touch with athletes and put them back on the field, so pre-med is a must. I love baseball, and want to play it as long as I can and continue to get better.

How has AGSP impacted your performance as an athlete?
I have become much bigger, faster, and stronger. My agility has increased vastly and I have started to really hit the ball deep. I am truly ecstatic to be able to do so much more and to help the team out. I used to just lift here and there on my own, run a few sprints, and maybe do some agility work. Now, I walk into the AGSP doors 3x/week ready to get better and to give it my all. Coach Amanda has helped me so much, and I couldn't get the results I have gotten without her motivation. I am now running faster, throwing harder, jumping higher, and hitting the ball a lot harder; many thanks to AGSP.

16th Annual Practical Approach to Sports Medicine

Hello Everyone!

This Friday December 4th, I will be a guest speaker at the

16th Annual Practical Approach to Sports Medicine Symposium

My topic is on Dynamic Flexibility, an attribute extremely important to athletes and general population alike.

Remember, our bodies don't work through limitations, sadly they work around limitations. This causes the development of poor movement patterns which will eventually decrease performance and increase risk of injury!

Don't let flexibility be your (or your athletes') weak link, for more information on the Symposium click here. If you can't make it to the Symposium, but would like to learn more about Dynamic Flexibility you contact me at aharen@agmc.org
