Ziegler, Nemer and Miletti lead Warriors to win on Opening Day
Marsinek and Brown pitch well in soggy opener
March 24, 2012 - CUYAHOGA FALLS, OHIO
The Walsh Jesuit baseball team earned its first win of the 2012 campaign yesterday in a hard fought victory 7-5 victory over visiting Medina Highland.
Leading the way was Junior RF Rory Ziegler with two hits, including a key two-out, two-RBI double in the first, while Senior Ohio Wesleyan recruit Drew Miletti provided a three hit day including a double of his own and an RBI. Also having a big day at the plate was Senior Rollins College recruit SS Anthony Nemer, chipping in two hits including a double and an RBI along with some sparkling defense. Also providing impactful offense was Sophomore Nate Romans with a deep double, and Junior Joe Mockbee who reached base in all four plate appearances, including two walks and a hit of his own.
Senior LHP Eastern Michigan recruit Michael Marsinek earned the victory on the mound and threw well, while Junior C/Closer Cassidy Brown came on and also threw well and earn the two-inning save.
With the win, the Warriors now stand at 1-0 on the year.
